I decided to replace it with an Impecca unit, not realizing they made the original unit from Sears. To my surprise, the new unit fit perfectly in the existing case, saving me setup time and cooling the house right away, which was a lifesaver in the 110-degree heat. The new unit didn't cost much more than the one I bought in 2013, and after a few days, I couldn't be happier with the comfort it provides, even if the back bedrooms are not as cold.

This A/C unit is heavy and bulky, so if you live in an apartment or condo, you may need help installing it. It effectively cools most of my condo, except for the bedroom which is in a remote location. I would recommend this unit for cooling a 1000 square foot space, but I will reserve judgement until I receive my first energy bill.
