If I could go back, I would have purchased a window air conditioner for my 700 sq ft living room. I initially avoided this option because I didn't want to block the window. After struggling with the instructions, I turned to a YouTube video for help. I learned to cut the bottom of the box to remove the air conditioner and then trimmed the plastic insert with a hacksaw. I had to buy insulation tape as it wasn't included. Connecting the hose to the insert was difficult due to the height of the window, and it kept popping out. I may need duct tape to secure it. While the air conditioner produces cool air, it doesn't effectively cool the room as I had hoped.

    Efficient, a bit loud.

The unit is easy to use and set up. The foam window tape provided may be unnecessary as the vent air exits with enough force to prevent waste heat from entering the house. However, on taller windows that slide horizontally, set up might be challenging as the window block may not be tall enough. For narrow vertical sliding windows, the block with the oval vent cutout is too short to cover the distance, but adding an insert/extender piece makes the setup too long. Adding a simple piece of cardboard to fill the gap works well. We live in CA where it is not excessively hot or humid, and running it in August for a few hours produces minimal drain water. The unit is a bit heavy to lift when needing to move it up or down stairs. In use, the 14k btu unit seems to draw a bit below about a half kw per hour. Overall, it is well constructed, works well, and I am very happy with it.
