I have bought several compact portable fans to beat the heat during the 2023 Summer heat wave, and this one is definitely my favorite! This fan was a useful camping tool in 95 degree weather, but it's only effective when you're right next to it. It's not powerful enough for two people or more, so each person needs their own. I gave it 4 stars because it would have been better if it could be positioned to push the air downward, like a ceiling fan. It's not possible to hang it or fold it in a way to create that effect, which would have been nice for camping at night.

I initially purchased a FanFair fan and encountered issues with the battery compartment not closing with the Rayovac D batteries. After returning the defective fan and acquiring a new one, I found that the battery compartment worked perfectly with both the included batteries and the Rayovac batteries I had at home. I have been running the fan on battery power for over 15 hours without any problems. I have since ordered another FanFair fan as a backup for hurricane season. My husband is a big fan of this fan - he loves it so much, he bought two. He's a truck driver and uses this fan during his breaks instead of running the truck to save fuel. It's powered by six D batteries (not included), but it's worth it because it can run for months. It's portable and versatile, so you can use it anywhere. I've experienced the discomfort of being without air conditioning during extreme heat, so I used my Jackery power station to run a fan and keep the room cool. I purchased this fan two months ago at our local Ace Hardware in preparation for potential power outages. I was so happy with it that I bought four more from the seller, as the hardware store was out of stock. I used it in conjunction with wet washcloths to stay cool and sleep when the interior temperature of our house was over 100 degrees. It has a small thin profile, is light, and powerful. I keep at least one on the dining table and one on the bedside table. It can be used plugged in or with batteries, making it versatile for power outages. The plastic fan I purchased was cheap and difficult to assemble. I struggled with the tiny screw holding the battery cover and had trouble fitting the batteries in the compartment. After finally getting it to work, I found it suitable for use in my air conditioned home and potentially during power outages. However, I later purchased a similar fan from Bed, Bath & Beyond that was sturdier, had an on/off switch, and was easier to use. The second fan was also cheaper, making it a better option. Overall, I would give the original fan a 3-star rating, and the new fan a 5-star rating.

I purchased a couple of these fans a few years ago and found them to be fragile. One broke when I dropped it and the other stopped working after a year or two. However, I work in a place without air conditioning in the summer and excessive heat in the winter, and these fans were very helpful in my small work area. I recently bought a couple more and found that the newer version is actually better. The fans are made of a softer plastic and the battery compartment is improved. It also seems to have more power and is lighter. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and am looking forward to using them at work.

Let's consider some of the advantages and disadvantages of this product...

Pros:
1. It is very portable, making it easy to carry around.
2. It uses 2 D size batteries which are easily accessible, and you can also use rechargeable batteries to save money.
3. You can use other battery sizes with the appropriate adapter.
4. It operates with low noise.

Cons:
1. It is only suitable for one person as it is too small to cool more than one person.
2. It makes a loud noise when adjusting the base, but once set, further adjustment is not necessary.
3. It does not come with an adapter to plug into an outlet, and you cannot purchase one separately.
4. The battery cover does not close when using rechargeable batteries, but can be modified to close properly. It closes smoothly when using alkaline batteries.
5. It may not come in the color advertised in the publication.

I hope my opinion is helpful. I have not had a chance to verify how long the batteries last, so I apologize for that.

I purchased this fan to use in my car during school pick-up lines. My children attend 3 different schools and I often spend a lot of time in the pick-up lines. The schools request that we turn off our engines to reduce pollution, and I wanted to avoid wasting gas. The fan is inexpensive, lightweight, and small, but puts out a good amount of air and is quiet. However, it seems a bit flimsy and can be difficult to position correctly. Overall, it's a good fan for the price, but there may be sturdier options available for those willing to pay more.
