I purchased this unit for my small bedroom despite having central AC because I tend to get hot while sleeping. It does an amazing job of cooling, but I wasn't aware that newer models do not have a drain hole or plug. This causes water and condensation to build up and create a loud, distracting noise. I have found a temporary solution by running the unit fan on high to evaporate the water, but I live in a humid climate so I expect the issue to return. I would recommend getting a unit that drains if you live in a similar environment. I also anticipate needing to clean the unit at some point, but I'm not sure how to access and clean the styrofoam inside. I would give it 3 1/2 stars instead of 4.

This window unit blows extremely cold air and can effectively cool a large room or even a basement. It is a bit noisy and installation can be difficult, but overall it is a great value for the money.

This air conditioner is reliable and performs well in a 17x13 room, even on the hottest days. It is much more energy efficient than our old window unit, as reflected in our utility bill. We are considering getting the same unit for another room next summer.
