The old model had a remote that allowed you to see the current temperature setting without needing to be right in front of the AC. The only major downside is that the new model only has a 1 year guarantee, while the old model had a 5 year guarantee. You can purchase an additional 2 year warranty, but the old model automatically came with a 5 year warranty at no extra cost. Additionally, the new model is a bit louder than the old model, but it's more like white noise and not obnoxious. Overall, I really love it. -

However, it consistently blows very cold air. The noise is apparently caused by ice forming and then cracking on the coils, but it is not a major issue. I would not recommend using it for sleeping, at least not for me. -

If you want a really quiet option, go for the newest Midea model, as they hold onto the best technology for a few years. -

However, we found that it fits another space with an existing AC unit, so we decided to keep it as a replacement for that unit in case it malfunctions. The technician was very understanding and offered us a partial refund, which was quickly deposited back into our account. The company was easy to deal with and we appreciate their service. Just as a note, the length measurement listed for the unit is actually the measurement from front to back, which caused some confusion for us. -

The sound worsens over time, so I would not recommend it for use in a room where you will be present while it is running. -
