This item deserves 4 stars from me because I've only had it for 5 months. My previous one, from a different brand, only lasted less than 2 years. I'll provide an update in a few years. It's easy to install, provides cool air, and allows for many adjustments, including a convenient remote control for usage from bed or couch.

This air compressor appears to be of good quality. It can be a little noisy in very hot and humid conditions, when it reaches 90+ degrees and 70% humidity. However, it consistently blows very cold air. The noise is apparently caused by ice forming and then cracking on the coils, but it is not a major issue. I would not recommend using it for sleeping, at least not for me.

They are all made by the same manufacturer (Midea) so they sound the same. It does not produce 51dB of noise, and sounds just like a regular air conditioner. There is nothing special about either one, and both were purchased on sale. The 6k model was only ten dollars more at $125.00. Therefore, the main factor to consider among all brands is the price. If you want a really quiet option, go for the newest Midea model, as they hold onto the best technology for a few years.
