I really like the quality of the glass in this kit, however, I was disappointed to find out that it is only compatible with cropped sensors. If you're looking to increase magnification or turn a regular lens into a macro, these converters are a good choice. This lens is great for capturing fantastic pictures once you get the hang of it. If you need more depth of field, I recommend using a macro lens instead of an attachment. I personally use it with a Cannon HS530 50x zoom and adjust the focus manually by zooming in until it's almost focused and then fine-tuning it with the tripod. I learned how to use it on a Nikonn FE from 1978.

The lens is excellent and easy to mount on my Sony RX-10 IV. It includes an adjustable spring-loaded adapter and fits snugly inside the Sony supplied lens hood without needing an extra adapter ring. It is simple to remove by taking off the lens hood and gently compressing the spring-loaded mount from the inside. The optical quality is very good, especially at the telephoto position. There is some vignetting at lower focal lengths, but this disappears as you move to longer focal lengths. Using a simple tripod and a flash with a white reflecting screen can be helpful.

I use the DCR-250 to take photos of insects in my backyard. The colder, brighter, fully-in-focus shot is a crop of a bare macro photo, while the warmer, softer-light, tighter-focus shot is a crop from a photo using the DCR-250. It can be challenging to get shots of bugs with the DCR-250 as it takes time to get the shot in focus, and most bugs won't tolerate the close attention. However, when I can get them, the details in the photos are great.

The DCR-250 creates a very thin Depth-of-Field, and closing the aperture to f/29 is the best way to open the DOF a little. Using intense lighting is necessary to expose the shot in a reasonable amount of time, so I always shoot with flash for my macro shots. The DCR-250 allows for more than 1:1 macro, with the in-focus frame about the size of a dime for my 100mm lens.

Being able to quickly remove and re-install the DCR-250 is very convenient, and I appreciate that I can use it on any of my lenses without needing to purchase any lens-size converters. For tiny subjects, the DCR-250 is a great way to extend the magnification and get good shots of smaller subjects.

I am really impressed with this snap on lens. I have previously used screw on ring magnifiers, which worked fine, but this snap on lens is definitely a step up. It fits perfectly on my Nikon macro lens and allows me to take extremely close up shots that even my quality macro lens can't quite capture. The packaging is sturdy and comes in a hard plastic box, with the lens easily assembling in about 30 seconds. The lens itself unscrews from the snap on bracket and has covers for protection. I have only used it in a light box so far, but it does great work in a controlled setting. I would definitely purchase it again.

I recently purchased the Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro to digitize my black & white 35mm and 6x6 negatives using my 1st generation Sony RX100. I had been using the camera's macro setting to copy the negatives, but the resulting photos didn't fill much of the frame. With the Raynox DCR-250, I can now fill 90% of the RX100's frame with the negative, including the sprocket holes. I was impressed by how sharp the Raynox is! I use the lens at its maximum 100mm telephoto setting, shoot in RAW, convert the negative to a positive TIFF, and then work with it in Photoshop. The Raynox has noticeably improved the quality of my digitized negatives without any apparent loss in resolution.

The image quality is impressive with this attachment. It's easy to use with the spring loaded feature and works well with my 18-55 and 55-200 Fuji lenses. However, I can't use it with my 35mm f/2 without a stepup/down ring. I've always enjoyed macro photography but struggled to capture the compound eye of insects until now. Setting the aperture at f/11 and f/16, it's important to remember the narrow depth of field. I haven't had any issues with my 55-200 lens, but at the wider end of the 18-55, there's a fisheye effect and the adapter ring is visible. However, this isn't a major problem as I mostly use the zoom for maximum magnification. Overall, I highly recommend this attachment for macro photography.

I found the dcr-250 to be a bit shaky without a tripod, but still good for a beginner. I'm planning on getting the dcr-150 next, as it allows for a greater distance from the subject. This little diopter is a great value, with fantastic clarity and minimal distortion. I used it with a Tamron 90mm lens and also with zoom lenses like the Tamron 17-50mm and 70-200mm, and the results were great. Keep in mind that the depth of field will be very narrow, so be sure to keep an eye on it while shooting. It works best when used with focus stacking software.

It appears that the details become less clear the closer you get to the subject. The photographs are of salt, and it seems that the salt grains may be too small. I'm not sure why they appear so soft. Perhaps I just need more practice with the attachment. While it is a good lens attachment, I wish it would maintain sharpness at closer distances.

I initially had doubts about this product due to my previous experiences with other macro filters. However, I am pleasantly surprised by how well this one works. I purchased this lens a few months ago and have found that it works very nicely and as expected. However, the snap mechanism can fail if not handled with care. Mine snapped off while I was on rocky terrain, resulting in scratches. Despite this, it is not a deal breaker as you can still take nice macros with it. I am not a photography expert and have a cheap Sony DSC-HX300 camera, so I don't have all the necessary equipment or knowledge of macro photography theory. However, I have been able to take some fairly good macros with this lens. (I have included two samples of macros that I took with it.)

I was really excited to try out this lens for macro photography, but I had some difficulties when I first tried to attach it to my 67mm lens. It was a tight fit and when I tried to remove it, it ended up pulling a piece out of my camera's lens construction. I was able to put the piece back in with no apparent damage, but I decided to order a step-down ring to avoid a similar incident in the future. Despite the initial challenges, the results from using the lens were good and I was happy with my first attempts at macro photography. The attached pictures have been post-processed. If the adapter piece had worked better, I would have given it a higher rating.

The Raynox DCR 250 is a bit challenging to use compared to the DCR 150, but it's definitely worth it because it produces stunning photos. It's my favorite to use with my Sony hx400v super zoom camera. The higher the zoom, the more difficult it is to focus, but the magnification is also much better. Despite hearing that it's impossible to use the DCR 250 with a focal length over 300mm, I've successfully used it with my camera at a 600mm equivalent. You have to focus it with your body rather than the camera, as it will only be in focus within a certain distance from the subject, and that distance becomes smaller as you increase the focal length. The slightest movement can make your entire subject out of focus. I haven't used it with a tripod, but that could make it easier. I personally find tripods to be too restrictive and cumbersome. Just use a fast shutter and a steady hand and it should work fine.

The Canon L 100mm macro is an amazing little lens. It requires getting very close to the subject to focus, and may initially seem like there's a problem with it. The lens I purchased is sharp and I am happy with it, however, it may cause strong vignetting with certain lenses. I bought a 80-210 Minolta F4 (Beercan) hoping for a good zoom range, but unfortunately it had strong vignetting at certain focal lengths. It does work well with my Minolta 135 3.5 lens. Additionally, I want to caution buyers that while it fits a 49mm lens, it is very tight and I recommend using a step-up ring for larger lenses to avoid breaking the tab. The description specifies 52mm to 67mm for a reason.

The spring grips didn't compress enough to release when trying to remove it, and I had to push it to get it to latch on. I was blown away by the amazing abilities of the Raynox DCR-150, which is why I knew I had to have the 250 version before they become more popular and the price goes up. The depth of field is narrower than the 150, but the magnification it provides is almost microscopic, which is perfect for my camera. I had no trouble using it with my Aperture Pro Light Ring, and the glass quality is outstanding with no chromatic aberrations in either the 150 or 250 models.

I am using this item with a Nikon Coolpix P510 point and shoot camera. The lens screws into the included body, and then the body clips onto the front of the camera like a lens cap. It is pretty secure unless you bump it hard. I mainly use this for shooting pictures of coins in macro mode. The magnification truly enhances the photo quality and allows for a more distant focus range. If you shoot macro, this is a great budget way to improve your shots without having to be right on top of the subject. I am also working on piecing together a bellows setup for my stationary macro needs for coins imaging.

I easily gave this product a 5-star rating for its price. Once I received it, I quickly attached it to my Nikkor 50mm 1.8G lens and went out to photograph sugar ants. When I first looked through the lens and tried to focus, I was a bit surprised by the extremely short focal distance and very thin depth of field. The auto-focus struggled a bit, especially with moving subjects, so I had to manually fine-tune and physically move back and forth to get the perfect shot. It only took a few tries to figure it out, but I was pleased with the pictures I got. Then I attached it to my Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens and was amazed at the level of detail I captured on the small critters, especially at 200mm and 300mm. The depth of field was even thinner at this range, so I closed my aperture as much as possible and was blown away by the results. With a little more time using this combination, I will be able to take some great macro shots until I eventually invest in an actual macro lens. I can't wait to see what I can capture when I combine a macro lens with this product. Overall, the build quality of this product was better than I expected, making it a win all around.

It worked best in the 500-600mm range of zoom on manual focus. The Perfect lens for Macro-graphy starters is the 55mm lens, which can be used with a 200-300mm lens using a step up ring for 5 dollars. By adding extension tubes to the stack, you can achieve 3X magnification with an 8 dioptre/4 + 1 snap-on lens. Adding a 300mm lens and extension tubes for 10 dollars together adds approximately 2x, totaling around 5x magnification. Beyond this, you will enter the micro world, with the Raynox MS-505 offering 32 dioptre and approximately 9x magnification. However, if you can produce excellent shots with the dcr 250, it may be better to invest in a high-end macro lens. The product was shipped on time and arrived with good packaging. The Canon Powershot SX40 camera works well with the DCR0250 lens without needing any additional fittings. It is not a true Macro lens, but when used with the camera's built-in telephoto lens, it allows for close focusing on objects. The combination of the extended telephoto and DCR0250 creates a powerful macro photography system. To use the lens, extend the built-in telephoto lens, and the more it is extended, the more magnified the subject will be. The camera should be in MACRO focus mode and the lens has a narrow depth of field. I also purchased a Cowboy Studios Macro Focusing Rail Set to aid in focusing the camera.

I have been using this macro converter for over 2 years and have been amazed by the fantastic results I have been getting. About 90% of my photography focuses on macro shots, and I receive regular compliments on my images. I use a Lumix point and shoot camera, currently the FZ200, and with this converter, I am able to achieve results that are equivalent to a macro lens that costs many times more. My only small complaint is that the plastic holder that connects the lens to the camera feels a bit cheap and flimsy. In fact, I had to purchase this converter because my previous DCR-250 had fallen off one too many times and got scratched up. Apart from that, it's a great product!

I initially had concerns about the image quality and potential blurring due to the low price of this product. However, those concerns were quickly put to rest as this turned out to be an amazing product. Like many others have mentioned, it took some practice to adjust to the magnification and I would recommend using a tripod for stability. Blurring is not an issue and the focused part of the image is incredibly sharp. My only complaint is that I wish the focal sweet spot was a little wider. I recently got a new camera and I couldn't afford a macro lens right now. I've used macro lenses with previous cameras and I really enjoy taking photos of flowers, which is perfect because my wife loves gardening. I've only taken a few photos with the Raynox so far, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. There is some vignetting at the corners with my current setup, but it's easy to crop out. The lens I purchased came highly recommended and exceeded my expectations. It performs well in controlled tests, especially when used in the 80 to 300 range. However, it is not as sharp in the corners, especially with wide-angle lenses. Chromatic aberration is high, particularly in the outer edges of the frame. Despite these drawbacks, I have been able to capture some great shots in the field, although the autofocus is not as sharp or accurate as a real macro lens. The lens is a good value option for macro photography, especially for its convenience in clipping on and off. However, it does have some limitations, such as needing to be centered over the lens and the two-piece set not fitting into the camera bag well. After several months of use, I have found that I prefer using extension tubes instead. They provide better results and are a similar price. I have found a great substitute to a pricey macro lens for my Panasonic GH1 camera. The converter is well built and sturdy, and while it clips on to the lens, I recommend using a lens ring adapter for a more secure fit. I personally use a 52mm to 43mm adapter. I attach the converter to my 14mm-45mm lens and am ready to go quickly. It takes some practice to get the hang of using it, but when you capture your first successful macro shot, it's an amazing feeling. This lens works well depending on the camera and lens used. I have a Fujifilm s200exr with a 14x zoom and used the 250 filter for maximum magnification. The lens has a shallow depth of field, but I still got good shots while hand holding the camera. I might also get the 150 filter for more options. It also worked well on my Canon Xsi dslr. I plan to try it on my 35mm slr's too. Overall, it's a good lens for the money and the mounting system works on multiple size lenses.

However, I also purchased the Raynox dcr-150 close-up conversion lens and found it to be a complete waste of money. Many other reviewers who bought both lenses failed to mention that if you're using the dcr-250 on a zoom lens, you only need to zoom out a bit to achieve the same results as you would with the dcr-150 zoomed all the way in. So, if you're using the dcr-250 on a zoom lens, there's no need to buy the dcr-150 - the dcr-250 already covers the range.

I purchased the Raynox DCR-250 for my Canon PowerShot SX10 camera and I am extremely happy with it. It is the camera accessory that I use the most and it easily snaps onto the lens of the SX10 without any additional adapter needed. It is small enough to carry in my pocket when not in use. I needed something to capture images of very small subjects and this lens allows me to do so without the need for expensive macro equipment. In terms of magnification, it provides roughly 0.66:1 on the sensor at full zoom. This lens has allowed me to capture amazing details such as the facets in a fly's eye, the colored scales on a butterfly wing, pollen grains, and individual cells in microscope slides. However, using the lens does require some practice as it has a very shallow depth of field and vignetting at lower zoom levels. Finding the right combination of zoom and distance from the subject is important. I have also found that using additional light or a tripod can help achieve better results. Overall, I have been able to capture stunning photographs with this lens. I also found that it works well with the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS camera and provides almost true 1:1 image representation on the tiny sensor with that camera when using full zoom. Based on some quick tests, it seems possible to make prints at a decent 150 dpi resolution that would show up to 1:125 magnification over the original.

I recently purchased this lens after seeing some amazing macro photos taken with a Panasonic FZ35. I had to buy an adapter for my camera, as well as an Adorama 46mm Step-Down Adapter Ring for the lens. It was easy to install and has given my camera new capabilities. The focus range is narrow, so it takes some practice to learn how to use it effectively. I found that leaving the camera in auto-focus mode and moving towards the subject worked well for me. There is some vignetting at the wide end of the zoom, but I found that zooming in slightly reduces this. I am still learning how to use the lens properly, but the results are worth the investment.

I have both the DCR-150 and DCR-250 lenses. I originally bought them for my Ricoh GX-200, but found that they didn't make much of a difference in my macro shots because my camera already had a close macro range. However, when I used them with my Canon Rebel 2Ti and the 18-55mm lens, I saw a big improvement. The lenses allowed me to get much closer to my subjects and capture smaller details. For example, with the DCR-150, I could fill the entire shot with something about 1.625 wide, and with the DCR-250, I could go down to 1.25. I even stacked them for even more magnification. However, the shallow depth of field and lighting challenges are things to keep in mind when shooting macro. Overall, I recommend starting with the DCR-150 for macro work and only considering the DCR-250 if you really need the extra magnification.

This product is effective when used with a telephoto zoom lens at 200mm or greater, providing a magnification of over 2x. However, at 50mm there is only a small increase in magnification, not enough to justify the chromatic aberration it introduces. It is recommended to only use this product on a DSLR at 400mm equivalent or greater, or on a compact/ultrazoom for best results. When used on a 100mm equivalent Macro lens, there is little noticeable effect except for the introduction of chromatic aberration in high contrast areas. At high magnifications, be prepared to address chromatic aberration through software, and consider using a tripod and focusing rail. Overall, if you cannot afford a true Macro lens but already have telephoto capability, this product may be suitable for you.

This lens is incredibly good for my Canon HV20. I've been able to capture some incredible HD video of things that can't be seen with the naked eye. It can still be used handheld, but you need to be very steady to avoid any small movements causing issues. On cold days, I use a mini tripod, which works really well. The super macro feature is no joke - I can see individual pixels on my mp3 player's screen the size of small blocks. With some creativity, you can create really cool video effects. For example, I filmed a marble and with the right filter in Sony Vegas, it looks like a spinning planet. I can't wait to get one that's almost microscopic. Thank you, Raynox!

This macro lens is really good. When used with my 18-55 mm Canon lens, it achieves a 1:2 magnification, which is good but not amazing. However, when used with my Sigma DG 70-300 mm zoom lens, it achieves an amazing 3.5:1 magnification ratio. This level of magnification comes with some challenges, such as a very small depth-of-field. Lowering the aperture helps, but it can still be difficult to get everything in focus. Using an external flash is likely necessary due to the limited light getting into the camera. Overall, this adapter is a great alternative to buying a more expensive dedicated macro lens. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it in the end.
