I put the battery in and was pleased to see that it was totally silent... but later at bedtime the noise was awful, not even a ticking noise, more of a constant rattling

This is a simple travel alarm clock, but it does everything really well. It is very clear to read in all lighting conditions , The clock is almost silent in use and keeps good time. The alarm is loud enough to wake me. Setting the clock and the alarm is very easy. Overall, it seems a well-designed and well-made clock.
