However, I ultimately decided to purchase it and found the assembly to be relatively easy. The instructions were adequate, but could have been improved slightly. The insert itself was sturdy, made of thick steel, well-painted, and included steel front and back pieces for versatility. The packaging was also impressive, with thick hard foam providing protection inside the cardboard box. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase and consider it to be a good value. -

It took a few tries to get the fit just right, but overall it was easy to assemble, especially if you take your time and use the correct screwdriver. The foam placement was a bit tricky, as it is permanent once stuck down. However, the end result is a sturdy and good-looking air conditioner. -

The instructions suggest installing the grill that comes with your AC unit, but most AC units do not come with a grill like that. This product should not be sold without a grill included. It's essentially useless without it. I had to return mine and I do not recommend buying it. -

We were unsure if we should add extra padding for drainage, as the unit could not fit in the sleeve with padded slants. It would also be helpful if the $100 sleeve included support for the back of the home, rather than having to pay an additional $30 for installation of a $300 AC unit. -

Review by DavidA2.0 / (Posted on 7/17/2016)After reading other reviews, I found it challenging to insert the screws into the sleeve. I didn't make the holes larger, but instead used a lot of force and twisting to get the screws in. Some tabs were bent when I opened the package, which must have happened during packaging. The instructions suggested adding 8 more screws on the top and bottom for added stability, but I had trouble getting the bottom 4 screws to line up and had to leave them out. It seems like the bottom screws are important for supporting the weight of the AC when installed, so I may need to take it out and fix this. The directions also didn't specify whether the sleeve should be level or slope to the back. I ended up loosening the screws for the side brackets and using a shim underneath to tilt the sleeve back, as the AC instructions recommended sloping it down. It seems like the instructions may be missing something, as it would probably be better to attach the side brackets to the sleeve one screw-hole further back to achieve the proper tilt. -

We had to enlarge the holes and straighten some bent areas that were not caused by shipping. I cannot comment on the wall installation process yet. -
